but still a poem!
By Donna Earnhardt
Autumn breathes, she flies and flutters.
Whispering the songs of old
Shedding tears for sister Summer,
Tears of purple, bronze and gold.
Rivers shimmer in Fall’s sunshine
Rivers shiver in her arms
Soon they’ll rest ‘neath frozen blankets
Lulled to sleep by Autumn’s charms
Flowers sigh and trees go silent
Vibrant hues and beauties pale
Autumn calms their fear and trembling
As she weaves a winter’s tale
Finally, Fall’s voice is silenced
Still her heart beats ever strong
Sighing, snuggling under cover
Waiting for her wake-up song
